It Exposes Hidden Dangers in Commercial Dog Food
The book is an eye-opening and essential guide for every dog owner. It clearly explains the hidden dangers in commercial pet food and offers practical steps to improve your dog’s diet. The “Ramses Guidance” and “Reality” sections are especially helpful in understanding what truly matters. This book empowers you to make informed choices that can transform your dog’s health and longevity. A must-read for anyone who wants the best for their furry friend.
A Must-Have Guide for Every Dog Parent
I have to say, The International Glossary of Dog Food Ingredients is an absolute game-changer for any dog owner who truly cares about what goes into their furry friend’s bowl. This book is like the ultimate encyclopedia of dog food ingredients—thoroughly researched, well-organized, and easy to understand. I love how it breaks down each ingredient, explaining the benefits (or risks) in a way that’s both educational and engaging. It’s not just a dry reference book; the writing style keeps me hooked, making me feel like I’m on a journey to becoming a smarter, more responsible pet parent.
Reading this felt empowering—like unlocking the secrets of dog nutrition that pet food labels don’t always tell us. The structured format makes it easy to find exactly what I need without endless scrolling or confusion. I also appreciate how it doesn’t push any specific brands but instead gives honest, unbiased information. If you’re a dog lover who wants the best for your pup, this book is a must-read. Five stars all the way!

Helps Dog Owners Navigate Options
As a dog owner, I’ve often wondered what’s in dog food and how to know whether it’s healthy or not. In this book, Wharram covers a plethora of ingredients and the effects they can have on dogs. I love my dogs and found it disheartening to read about how unhealthy many ingredients can be and the lack of regulations/accountability to protect dogs. Wharram helps dog owners navigate the many options so they can make informed decisions, taking into account each dog’s specific needs. I recommend this book for all dog owners who want to protect and nurture these treasured members of the family!
Variety of Ready to Use Recipes
I purchased this because I have considered making my own dog food for my frenchie. I am very conscious about the food he eats and have had him on a raw food diet for a few years and have seen the benefits it has provided. I have been looking into making his dog food myself but still had some questions.
This book had all the information I was looking for and answered all the questions that I had. This book offers a variety of sample recipes which make it easy to provide balanced and nutritious meals for your dogs. It covers all types of breeds and dietary needs. I found the sample recipes to be SO useful! They give you a template to start out with when (like me) you are just starting out on this homemade dog food journey. It made it easy to incorporate these meals into our busy routine and I am sure my dog will love them!
Great Guide for Homemade Dog Food

This book is an excellent guide for anyone looking to make their own homemade dog food. It’s easy to follow, with step-by-step instructions and helpful tips. The information about balancing nutrients and adjusting recipes for different life stages is clear and practical. Plus, the bonus recipes and cost comparisons are a great addition. Highly recommend for dog owners who want to provide healthier, homemade meals for their pets!
Finally, Clarity on What’s in My Dog’s Bowl
I have owned dogs for as long as I can remember, but for the longest time I’ve always felt a little clueless about dog food ingredients lists. It has always been a struggle to really understand what I was feeding my pups, as those lists can be very confusing! Ingredients are not always clearly or transparently described, and it can be difficult to know what’s good, what’s bad, what to avoid, etc.
The International Glossary of Dog Food Ingredients has changed all of that for me. This book (eBook or print) is an incredibly thorough guide, with every imaginable ingredient described and explained, from the standard proteins, grains, and produce, to the hard-to-understand-bytes that many of us often gloss over or ignore altogether. What I like most is that it is very balanced. The author gives no judgment or opinion about whether ingredients are good or bad, rather simply explains what they are, where they come from, and how they benefit (or harm) a dog’s health.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who cares about what their dogs are eating and would like to be able to navigate the confusing world of dog food ingredients without getting misled by marketing or labeling. I plan to keep it by my side for years to come and have it proudly displayed on my kitchen shelf next to the jar of treats.
